Against the backdrop of the terrible war in Ukraine, the Royal Opera House set up ROH Songs for Ukraine Chorus, bringing together displaced Ukrainians to sing with the Royal Opera Chorus. The first performance at the Royal Opera House in March was a creative exchange, singing Ukrainian liturgical and folk repertoire and opera choruses and received great acclaim, both from the audience and international press.
We are now proud to present this Chorus for their first performance outside London in Bradford in preparation for City of Culture 2025. Set in the beautiful cathedral surroundings, ROH Songs for Ukraine Chorus will perform songs from Ukraine’s rich Christmas tradition, with some well known and lesser known Carols. They will be joined by our own Grace Notes choir and singers from Bradford’s own Ukrainian community.
