Anna is an organist, conductor, and broadcaster, and the Director of Music at Pembroke College, Cambridge, where she conducts the Chapel Choir, the Girls’ Choir, and the Cambridge Organ Experience for Girls.

In 2022 she was appointed Associate Artist of the Royal Albert Hall and Artist in Association with the BBC Singers. A strong advocate for music education at home and abroad, she specialises in bringing music to children from impoverished backgrounds. She leads the music exchange programme of the Muze Trust, a charity that works to make music accessible to children and young adults in Zambia. Anna’s passion for the organ is matched by her mission to support girls and women in music.

Anna Lapwood said:

“I am thrilled to become an Ambassador for the Cathedral Music Trust. I strongly believe in the transformative power of music, especially for young people. In recent years, the Trust has positioned itself not just as a provider of financial aid to choirs in need, but also as a key player in conversations around participation, education and excellence, and I am hugely excited to help them shape a thriving future for sacred music in the UK.”
Alexander Armstrong said:

“On behalf of the Cathedral Music Trust and its many supporters I am delighted to welcome Anna Lapwood as our new Ambassador. Anna inspires so many young musicians, and her commitment to opening up opportunities for all members of our community is evident in every aspect of her life and work. This is what makes her such a wonderful champion for the Cathedral Music Trust and all it stands for. I can’t wait to work with her.”

Cathedral Music Trust campaigns on behalf of cathedral music and musicians, supporting cathedral choirs and choristers in need, and encouraging the pursuit of excellence in choral and organ music.
