Christmas Message

23rd December 2021

Despite the confusion and anxiety that surrounds this Christmas, it’s a festival that shines a warm and generous light on the whole world. God is neither distant nor a stranger.

A Christmas Message – Association of English Cathedrals

“The child of Bethlehem comes to us in humility and vulnerability showing us that from the most unexpected places God is actively at work drawing out our love and care. The message of the Angels repeats God’s intention for the world – peace, blessing, friendship for and between all humanity.

All our Cathedrals will be extending that message and interpreting it to many diverse communities. We invite people of good will, searchers and hope-filled seekers, to join our worship, in person or online this Christmas. We, in turn, join our prayers with everyone looking again for the joy this season promises to bring.”

Adrian Dorber, chair of the Association of English Cathedrals and Dean of Lichfield

All our Cathedrals are ready to welcome you this Christmas with services ranging from the traditional to the contemporary. You can dress-up as your favourite nativity character, there’s lots and lots of candles, a pets’ carol service, there’s even camels!

Remember new research just published shows attending a Cathedral Christmas Carol Service makes you happy, and most of our cathedrals are offering services online during these challenging times too, so you can join in from the comfort of your own home.

So from all of us,  Happy Christmas.
