Cathedral Angels Campaign Comes to an End

31st January 2025

Candlemas marks the end of our winter campaign that saw us share an image of an angel from every one of our cathedrals every day across our social media channels.

Cathedral Angels - Southwark

Since the start of the campaign, we have shared angels found in our stained glass, in our carvings, hidden in our medieval paintings, atop our organs, our artwork and even standing in our nativity line-ups. Every one of our Anglican cathedrals, some of our partners from the church in Wales and our friend across the water in Limerick were featured.

Candlemas commemorates two key events from the Gospel of Luke: the presentation of the infant Jesus at the temple in Bethlehem and the purification of Mary, following Jewish law.

This dual celebration, occurring forty days after Christmas, intertwines themes of dedication, light, and prophecy and candlemas remains a day of quiet beauty and reflection in the liturgical calendar.

Midway between winter and the promise of spring, it reminds us of the enduring power of light in darkness, the cyclical nature of the seasons, and the deep cultural connections between faith, tradition, and community.

Thank you for engaging with this campaign – we recorded over one million impressions across all our social media accounts – including our newest Blue-Sky and LinkedIn.
