Jo Kelly-Moore was born and educated in New Zealand, qualifying as a lawyer and then working in Wellington and London. She returned to New Zealand to study theology where she was ordained Deacon in 2000 and priest in 2001. From 2000 until 2010 she was curate and then Vicar of St Aidan Remuera, a busy multi-generational suburban parish close to the city centre. In 2010 she was appointed Dean of Auckland and Deputy Vicar General. During her time at the Cathedral, she oversaw a large capital project which included building a chapel at the west end of the Cathedral and commissioning a new organ. Whilst in Auckland, Jo was also a Diocesan Council member, General Synod member and on several Provincial committees including the Provincial Finance Committee.
In 2017 Jo became Archdeacon of Canterbury and Residentiary Canon of Canterbury Cathedral and the following year was elected to General Synod. She served on the Steering Committee for the Cathedrals Measure 2021. In December 2021, Jo was installed as Dean of St Albans. Jo was elected to the AEC Executive in May 2022 and appointed as Chair.
