Worcester’s Cathedrals at Night: 19-21 October

20th October 2021

Worcester Cathedral has opened its doors for visitors to experience and explore the building after hours during the city’s ‘Light Night Worcester’ event this week – and it’s all about angels.

Angels herald in Worcester’s Cathedral at Night: 19-21 October

There’s an angels’ exhibition on display – including exhibits by the cathedral’s own stonemasons’ team- drama, videos at key locations, the opportunity for a torchlit angel hunt, music, and lots and lots of candles as well as angel themed crafts for younger visitors too.

Angel fancy dress is very welcome and there is an angel-themed photo wall for visitors to share costumes on social media using the hashtag #cathedralangels.

The Cathedral bells will ring out on all three nights to mark the occasion.

Canon Stephen Edwards said:

“We’re so excited to invite visitors to join us for after-hours fun and contemplation, and to see our magnificent building in a whole new way!

“It’s the time of year when the nights grow darker and it’s just lovely to wrap up warm and explore these treasures on our doorsteps in new and exciting ways.

“There’s plenty to keep all ages entertained, and we look forward to welcoming our visitors to immerse themselves in our angels theme,” he added.

Worcester at Night opened as part of Light Night Worcester last night (Tues) and will run until Thursday 21 (inclusive).

The event is free to attend. No booking is necessary and refreshments are available in The Cloisters Café.
