Worcester – Pet Service

24th August 2021

All Creatures Great and Small: A Service of Blessing for Animals at Worcester Cathedral.

Pets joined the congregation at Worcester Cathedral on Sunday for its annual pet blessing service.

The service was designed to celebrate people’s pets, the joy and comfort they have brought to many during the last 18 months, and included a memorial for those pets that have been lost.

It is a partnership between Worcester Cathedral and the Greyhound Trust Hall Green and the service was conducted by Residentiary Canon Stephen Edwards.

Canon Stephen said:

“Animals make such a difference in our lives; they are part of our families, there for us in good times and bad and give us unconditional love. For many people, the isolation they have felt over the past 18 months has been eased by having the companionship of a pet. And for those who have suffered and are grieving, pets can bring great comfort to their owners.

“We are so pleased to be able to hold our pet blessing service once again this year, after being unable to last year due to the pandemic.”
