Volunteers’ Week – Thank You, Laura

“I think volunteering is a great way to spend free time, and I know that it will be useful as an addition to my UCAS application. I’m gaining work experience, and getting to see if a career in education something I’d like to pursue.”

“I’m a student volunteer in the Education Department here at Hereford Cathedral. I’m currently studying at Hereford Sixth Form, where I’m studying Drama, Chemistry and Biology. I’m hoping to go on to study drama at university, and thinking about a career in education.

“I heard about volunteering at the cathedral through the Impact Portal and Hereford Sixth Form college. I had visited the Cathedral previously with family and thought it would be a fascinating place to volunteer.

“Joining the team was easy. I knew I wanted to help with the Education department, so I had an informal interview with the head of Education and Family Learning, and found some areas I would like to help with.

“I work with the team at Lego Club and Messy Church. I especially enjoy Messy Church where I get to interact with children of all ages and have responsibility for running craft activities. It’s interesting to see how all the different ages interact with the activities on offer.”

All our cathedrals have volunteering opportunities. Do you have time to offer or skills to share. Your cathedral needs you! Do get in touch with your local cathedral this #VolunteersWeek.
