The Hatchling – Wakefield Cathedral

Wakefield Cathedral is preparing to host The Hatchling – part of Wakefield’s Our Year – a year-long project which aims to inspire creativity by bringing events and activities to every resident.

Hatching from an egg at Wakefield Cathedral serenaded by the Cathedral’s youngest choir, the dragon will then explore the city centre through a series of events leading up to an extraordinary finale when she unfurls her 20 metre wings and takes flight.

The Hatchling is the world’s largest human-operated puppet to fly and has been created by creatives, Trigger who create bold disruptive public theatre.

There are family-themed events planned in the cathedral to mark the Hatchling which takes place from 23-25 August.
