Lockdown 3 – We are here

07th January 2021

Under this latest Government lockdown, our doors can remain open for private prayer, reflection and public worship.

Know we are here. Ever present.

Many cathedrals are urging people to stay home, keep safe and protect our NHS, and all of them are offering prayer and worship online so you can join in from the comfort of your own home.

Know we will be praying for the country, our frontline workers in health, education, social care and all those who are anxious and fearful.

We are committed to keeping people safe, relieving the pressure on our NHS and offering comfort, care and spiritual support to the nation at this time.

All our cathedrals will open in a limited way for some hours during the day for private prayer and reflection and will also offer some public worship.

Please be assured we will continue to follow the latest public health and government guidance on the safe use of places of worship which includes observing social distance, making sure visitors do not mingle with anyone outside their household or support bubble, and offering hand sanitising stations.

Newcastle Cathedral will offer online worship and prayer only – they have been unable to open due to major building work.

All cathedrals will offer online worship and prayer and many are able to offer virtual tours, music, meditation, candle lighting and other digital activities too.

Please visit your cathedral’s website for up to date information on their digital offer plus the days and times for opening and communal worship.

Keep safe.
