Lincoln Cathedral and local theatre company team up to help local families in need
The theatre company wants to collect more than 4 tonnes of food and is urging anyone coming to see the show, to bring an item to donate to the Lincoln Foodbank which has a collection point inside the cathedral.
And they have just launched a prize draw, with 20 pairs of tickets to the show on offer to those who bring a donation. Anyone bringing a donation of non-perishable food to the collection point in the nave of the Cathedral between now and 10.30 am on Tuesday 31 May, can complete an entry form to be entered into a prize draw to receive a pair of tickets for the performance on Thursday 2 June, with another ten pairs on offer to the show on Friday 3 June.
Ben Poole, director of Starring Lincoln Theatre Company said that it was more important than ever to support food banks.
“Over the past few years, food banks have become an unwanted but essential lifeline for many people in our communities, and with the current cost of living crisis, food banks are struggling to cope with the demand.
“Every donation of food no matter how small will help a family who is currently facing extreme hardship,’ he added.
Contributions of non-perishable food can be dropped off at the Cathedral anytime during normal opening hours. To enter the draw for tickets, simply bring your food donation, and complete a form with your name and contact details.
Winners will be drawn at random at 10.30 am on Tuesday 31 May, and the lucky winners will be notified later on the same day.
