Hereford Cathedral Choir – Christmas Carols in the Air

20th December 2019

Well I never….a Flashmob on an Easyjet flight to Bologna can be revealed as our very own Hereford Cathedral Choir!

Hereford Cathedral Choir launched into an impromptu rendition of Ding Dong Merrily on High. Why ….. just because.

They were on their way to sing in Bologna at the invitation of the British Embassy in Rome when they decided to treat the passengers on EasyJet Flight from Gatwick to Bologna with some festive cheer ….and it was a bit of a warm-up for a festive concert planned at the Church of San Procolo as part of their tour.

The choir of Hereford Cathedral is no newcomer to performing. They made history in Rome last year when they sang at a Papal Mass on the Feast of Sts Peter and Paul – believed to be one of the first Anglican cathedral choirs to be invited by the Pope to perform at this service which saw crowds of over 125,000.

This rather lower-key affair saw the choir sing on the streets of Bologna as well as at pre-arranged receptions.

The invitation, received through Hereford Cathedral Perpetual Trust, follows their previous collaboration with the Foreign Office, both in Italy and elsewhere and was supported by GI Confindustria Emilia Romagna, British Embassy Rome and EasyJet.
