Southwell Minster is making history next month when it hosts four cathedral choirs and the county’s professional orchestra, Sinfonia Viva, for Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem.
It is the first time the four cathedral choirs of Southwell Minster, Coventry, Derby and Leicester Cathedrals have come together.
Ruth Massey, head of fundraising at Southwell Minster, said:
‘We are really excited about this collaboration, and it certainly promises to be a spectacular concert at Southwell Minster.”
The orchestra and choirs are performing the Requiem by French composer Maurice Duruflé, there will be a virtuoso performance from Southwell Minster’s Rector Chori Paul Provost with Poulenc’s Organ Concerto. The orchestra will also play Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia On A Theme By Thomas Tallis, which was especially written to be performed in cathedrals.
