Chichester’s Online Flower Festival
27th May 2020
Today would have marked the launch of Chichester Cathedral’s biennial Festival of Flowers which attracts thousands of people and raises much needed funds for the cathedral.
Chichester Cathedral’s Festival of Flowers goes online ….til next year
But lockdown has created a new opportunity for the hard-working volunteer flower arrangers and Festival Designer Lyn Robinson – they will share their creativity online via a series of posts across the cathedral’s social media to showcase their own handmade creations from their own homes – plus it’s a chance to revisit the stunning designs from the 2018 Festival.
And they have just announced the Festival of Flowers will now take place between 3 and 5 June 2021
Festival Designer, Lyn Robinson, said:
“In normal circumstances we would be in the throes of the Festival of Flowers, enjoying the crowds appreciating our efforts over the past months. Instead, we are thinking of all the amazing volunteers who would be dedicating their time to this event – we could not hold such a successful event without them all, and remain enormously grateful to each and every one of them as we look forward to returning greater than ever in 2021.”
The Dean of Chichester, The Very Reverend Stephen Waine, said:
“Hundreds of people work incredibly hard to put the Festival of Flowers together. On top of being a scene of creativity and beauty – enjoyed by all of our visitors – the Festival also raises vital funds to conserve and protect the sacred heritage of the Cathedral.”
