Pilgrimage – Bradford, Sheffield, Worcester
31st January 2020
A special evening candlelit pilgrimage will lead visitors in an immersive sound and light experience around Bradford Cathedral this Saturday as the story of the city and its sacred space are unveiled in music, prayer and poetry.
This Son et Lumiere pilgrimage is just one of a number of events marking the national 2020 Year of Cathedrals, Year of Pilgrimage theme for Church of England cathedrals.
In Worcester, the Cathedral is launching a city centre Urban Pilgrimage which will take visitors on a route from St Martin in the Cornmarket to Worcester Cathedral taking in other places of worship on the way as pilgrims learn more about faith and heritage at these four city-centre churches.
It is one of a number of pilgrim focussed events organised by Worcester Cathedral throughout the year.
In Sheffield children can join Rufus the Cathedral mouse to explore the cathedral on a special pilgrim trail around the cathedral to learn about Christian life and discover some hidden meanings – before collecting a pilgrim token on their way out.
To mark 2020 Year of Cathedrals Year of Pilgrimage, we have teamed up this year with the British Pilgrimage Trust to ensure there is a pilgrimage route for every Church of England Cathedral taking in established wayfarer routes, other places of faith, spiritual pathways and lesser-known pilgrim ways.
