Best kept Valentine’s Day secrets

14th February 2019

Shhhhh! Best kept Valentine’s Day secrets…….

“I felt you and I knew you loved me”, this neon art installation by Tracey Emin in Liverpool Cathedral is the inspiration for today.

Here at English Cathedrals – we know a thing or two about love.

Cathedrals have always striven to attract the highest standards of what humankind can offer to the glory of God – and continue to do so today.

As a consequence, we have been inextricably connected to art, in all its many different form, from our glorious musical tradition and our stained glass windows telling the Bible stories, to the more contemporary art forms and installations we find in many of our cathedrals today.

Today in Ripon Cathedral, north Yorkshire –  a free concert to mark St Valentine’s Day with arias about love with tenor, Joseph Spratt at 1pm and again at Choral Evensong at 6pm with If Ye Love Me by composer, Philip Wilby.

Gloucester Cathedral – Valentine’s Day tower tours – a chance to view this iconic building from up high – on a clear day  you can see forty miles across the glorious Gloucestershire countryside. Upon arrival on the roof, enjoy a glass of prosecco or non-alcoholic alternative.
Thursday 14 and Saturday 16 February 2.00pm – 3.00pm
