The Museum of the Moon artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram is coming to Winchester for the first time in February 2024. Pop into the cathedral to marvel at its beauty or join one of the many events and activities that will be taking place in the moonlight, from pilates to silent discos.
This large-scale installation has been circling the globe, lighting up spaces from Bilbao to Beijing, including abbeys and swimming pools, exciting and inspiring visitors along the way. Wander the majestic nave of Winchester Cathedral by moonlight and feel amazed by this breathtaking installation.
Measuring seven metres in diameter, the moon features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface.
Entry to see the moon will be included with your general admission ticket.
General Admission Pricing: Standard: £12.50; Over 66: £10.00; Student (ID checked): £6.50
Separate booking required for special events in the Festival of the Moon programme including special family craft workshops at half-term 12th-14th February.
