Happy 1,000th birthday will be said in flowers in St Edmundsbury Cathedral when it opens its summer flower festival to celebrate 1,000 years of the Abbey at Bury St Edmunds.
The exhibition will reflect the ten centuries from 1020 when the Abbey was first founded, to the present day in flowers and plant material.
The flower festival hopes to raise funds for the Youth Work of the Cathedral and its link diocese of Kagera in Tanzania.
The cathedral was recently resplendent when it welcomed Harald Altmaier, florist to the royal household, who created floral arrangements fit for a queen for HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – pictured here.
And this summer flower festival is set to wow too. Lead designer, florist Vicki Hease from Great Finborough and Sue Cockram, head of the Cathedral Flower Team have organised ten teams of flower arrangers from flower clubs across the East of England.
