New light show at St Albans Cathedral celebrates our beautiful planet ahead of COP26
With just days before the opening of COP26, the United Nations Climate Conference, St Albans Cathedral is transformed into our fragile planet and visitors invited to explore the beauty of our world through an immersive new sound and light art installation called Life: What a Wonderful World.
The installation is the creation of artistic duo, Luxmuralis, and transforms the cathedral using digital technology and a unique sound track which enables the visitor to explore the planet, watch the sun rise and set, and see the oceans and clouds scud across the interior of the cathedral.
Acting Dean, the Revd Dr Kevin Walton said
“We are delighted to be hosting this light show which celebrates our beautiful planet, and is particularly timely in the light of challenges which we face today. I am confident that it will make a positive and dramatic impact on those who experience it”.
Peter Walker, of Luxmuralis, said
“We were delighted to return to St Albans with our new show, Life, to bring much joy, wonder, light and hope to people.
“It is both uplifting and thought-provoking and takes people on a journey which we hope will inspire and create discussion as they are immersed in light and sound within the stunningly beautiful Cathedral”.
The light show runs until Saturday 30 October 2021.
