‘Density & Lightness’ will feature 75 sculptures from 24 artists, inside and outside Exeter Cathedral, in an exhibition by the South West Sculptors to reflect hope, resilience and new beginnings this summer.
The diverse exhibits include pieces made from stone, wood, ceramic, bronze, plaster and glass. Careful curation and juxta-positioning will highlight links between these guest sculptures and the Cathedral’s own permanent works.
A programme of events runs alongside, including a contemporary dance event, creative wellbeing workshops and a community-crafted ‘Tree of Hope’ sculpture for visitors to contribute to a community sculpture by writing memories of the past and hopes for the future onto paper leaves.
