Luke Jerram’s Gaia tours to Derby Cathedral this autumn.
Measuring seven metres in diameter and created from 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface, the artwork provides the unique opportunity to see our planet on this scale, floating in three-dimensions above the nave of the Cathedral. A specially made surround sound composition by BAFTA award winning composer Dan Jones is played alongside the sculpture.
The events programme that runs alongside Gaia invites visitors to enjoy wellbeing events, music, and nature walks, and contemplate the themes presented by the artwork.
Entry will be free with a suggested entry donation of £3 per person that will go towards the care and work of the city’s Cathedral.
