It’s a first for the refurbished Cathedral Isle of Man as they welcome Luke Jerram’s art installation, Museum of the Moon from 9 February to 2 March. The giant illuminated sculpture of the moon will be on display in the nave of the cathedral which has recently been re-ordered as part of an ambitious project of renewal to create a vibrant centre for all.
The installation will be accompanied by “lunar-inspired events for all” that will take place under the artwork, from pilates to choral performances. Check the Cathedral website for full details.
With a diameter of 6 metres, the display uses detailed NASA imagery to replicate the lunar surface and is accompanied by a sound composition created by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award-winning composer Dan Jones. The installation has been supported by the Isle of Man Arts Council.
