A Child Poverty Emergency in Birmingham: How does the Church make sense of this?
Birmingham has a Child Poverty Emergency. This Conference will help us unpack the issue and begin to see what part we might play. We will hear from a number of speakers including: Jane Haynes, Politics and People Editor, Birmingham Live and Chris Shannahan, Associate Professor in Political Theology at the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations, Coventry University, who have researched child poverty and austerity and have articulated challenges for us.
The voice of young people will be present during the day, and Bishop Michael and Bishop Esther will help us reflect on what this means for our common discipleship. There will be a Panel Discussion with practitioners, church leaders and politicians.
Lunch will be provided.
