David Hoyle has been Dean of Westminster since November 2019. Previously he was Dean of Bristol (from 2010), Dean of Magdalene College, Cambridge, a Vicar in London, and a Residentiary Canon of Gloucester Cathedral, where he was Director of Ministry. He also served as Secretary to the Theological Group of the House of Bishops, as a member of the Development and Appointments Group, as an Adviser in the selection process for ordinands and as a member of the Candidates Panel. He is a published historian and theologian, his most recent book being The Pattern of Our Calling. He is a Governor of Ripon College, Cuddesdon, and taught history and theology for West of England Ministerial Training Course and on the Eastern Region Ministry Course. David was elected as Chair of the College of Deans in September 2018, in which capacity he is an ex-officio member of the AEC Executive.
