The Association of Cathedral Clerk of the Works was formed: to provide mutual support and encouragement and as a central information point for Cathedral Clerk of the Works/ Works Managers; to be supportive to all cathedrals by giving aid/help/information not necessarily available to them; and to consider, debate and make recommendations on any matter affecting the fabric of cathedrals and, if thought fit or if so requested by the Association of English Cathedrals, make recommendations to that Association.
Now moving into its 30th year, the Association membership categories include:-
- directly employed Cathedral Clerk of the Works, and their Assistants/ Deputies
- a person contracted in to act as a Clerk of the Works
- Associated members (retired Clerk of the Works)
The Association has a formal Constitution which is regularly reviewed and a small membership fee to cover administration costs.

The current Chairman is Chris Sampson of Exeter Cathedral, the Treasurer is Geoff Sayers and the Secretary is Gary Price of Salisbury Cathedral.
