Cathedral choirs from the north west sing together

On Saturday 9 March, Choral Evensong at Manchester Cathedral was sung by not just one cathedral choir, but three!  Manchester Cathedral Choir hosted its counterparts from Liverpool Anglican and Chester Cathedrals and all three choirs led this service of prayer as part of the Cathedral’s daily pattern of worship.  During the service, the combined choir sung Parry’s well-known anthem for a double choir, ‘Blest Pair of Sirens’. This popular work is based on a poem by John Milton and was sung at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in Westminster Abbey in 2011.

Choral Evensong was followed by a short organ recital given by Christopher Stokes, Organist and Master of Choristers at Manchester Cathedral.
