Jonathan Greener was appointed Dean of Wakefield in 2007. Following a career in industry, he was ordained in Southwark, and then worked in the Dioceses of Chichester and Truro. In 2003, he was appointed Archdeacon of Pontefract, and in 2006 was elected Chair of the National Archdeacons’ Forum. From 2003-7, he was a member of the General Synod, and of the Inter-Diocesan Finance Forum. He is a member of the Cathedrals Liturgy and Music Group. He chaired the Wakefield Diocesan Board of Education for four years and now the chairs the Sponsors of the Trinity Academy in Halifax. He has an interest in the Church overseas, having co-ordinated the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Romania Liaison Group and represented Anglicans at the Third Ecumenical Assembly, Sibiu, and at the Roman Catholic Conference of Priests; he now chairs the Wakefield-Mara (Tanzania) Link Committee. Jonathan is one of two deans who are Church Commissioners. He was elected to the AEC Executive in June 2011 and leads on matters relating to the Church Commissioners.
